Sad to say, I'm confronted with the same issue. After reading numerous posts, I've decided to install a reman versus a rebuilt on my '99 XJ8. My baby has only 38K miles. Wondering if you're satisfied with the Jasper reman. Thank you!

Just saw your comment about my XJS today! Thanks!! You know, the later XJS models are pretty much bullet-proof! Mine is a 1995 and I have had absolutely NO TROUBLE with it. It's one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned!! I took my friends' advice to stay away from the earlier models--especially the V-12s. They have been known to catch fire!! If you are interested in purchasing an XJS, I stronly advise buying a later model in-line 6. You won't regret it!!

Also, We have 'ABS plus' which is supposed to help with understeer/oversteer by using some special software and yaw sensors while braking in addition to standard ABS. It helped on the track but don't depend on it in the snow. It somewhat helps but reacts too slowly to be useful.

Does your traction control button above the a/c say 'trac off' or 'ASC off'? Trac is more helpful.

Yea your XJ sport handles the corners better than my comfort oriented Vanden Plas.

I have Contiental Contiextreme Contact all season tires. They were pretty cheap online. I think they were $140 each. Rated pretty high on tire rack.com.

Im from Texas, so I'm a novice at winter driving. My tires are decent.The traction control helps alot. It helped keep the rear under control. I have never gotten stuck in the snow. My car appeared to drive as well as those with winter tires. The snow on a unplowed road was deep enough for my car to drag its belly on the snow and still had no problem.

My friend and I compared my car and his Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 with OEM tires. My tires seem to have better grip. No surprise but he was able to get up hills that I couldnt b/c of 4x4.

To sum it up, with my tires, I am more concerned with other cars hitting me than me sliding into them.

Quick comment: Do the roads suck in New Jersey like they do in Mass? If so, raise the air pressure in your tires. I bent my rim driving aggresively down a road a hit a somewhat small pothole. These rims seem a bit weak.

If you ever get a chance, these cars are alot of fun on a track. I beat a BMW 740i, Mustang V6, Volvo S40, BMW 325i and a couple of other competent cars. The 740i put up a good fight. It was more sloppy on the turns than the Jag with alot of oversteer but the Jag was more lazy with more understeer. My car was easier to control and had more accuracy and consistency and I came out ahead. My car was a spectator favorite since a XJ was a surprise at the track.
