Default 16" fan in a Mk2?

I want to up size the 12'' electric pusher fan in my Mk2. I've been looking at a 16'' Spal fan that will roughly double the air flow. I havent pulled the grill, but it looks like there is enough room. Does anyone in this forum have first hand experience in fitting a 16'' fan?

Thanks.

I did measure it last night. Not exactly square three inches from the fan, but it looks like there is 16 inches horizontal and 16 inches vertically to play with.

I have fitted the fan from a Mercedes, most of the cars from the 80's and 90's used one as a pusher for the AC. It just fits the radiator in an S Type, and moves an amazing mount of air. It's certainly up to keeping a 3.8 engine cool all by itself.
