Default 1962 MKII Sedan

Hi, I have a general question and I hope I am in the correct place to get an answer or some direction!! My father is 85 and has a 1962 MKII that is totally disassembled. He has two original engines, all original parts and many new original parts. Only missing the windshield. It was his dream to restore it but was unable to before arthritis set in. Has been in storage since 1977.

Since he is unable to restore and I do not have anyone else interested, wondering how I should go about selling? Not sure what it is worth in pieces and if I should sell parts or sell everything together.

I would appreciate any insight ! I would be happy to provide more detail if needed!

I would be inclined to advertise it as a complete project.
It is also important to specify the engine capacity which comes in 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 litre capacities.
The type of transmission is important i.e. manual or automatic.
Also be honest about the body condition i.e. is it clean or a "rust bucket".
You also need to specify a location, not exact, but by town and state to give prospective buyers some idea of the distance to travel.
I don't know the availability of a new windscreen in the USA but in Australia they cost around A$200.
I suggest using this forum marketplace to advertise.

What Bill says is the most practical solution. On the other hand, it's disposal of your father's dream, which might not be the nicest thing in the world for him, even if he doesn't say so. What are we without our dreams? Depending on his health and the amount of cash available, I'd do one of (1) look for a good restorer to do the work if there's some attachment to this particular car, or (2) buy him a complete running Mk2 and sell what you have, or (3) keep everything stored and do nothing for the present.

For selling, don't expect to make a fortune.

What Bill suggested ! Also find and contact your local Jaguar club via a web search. let the club members know what you've got. Whatever you do, I don't think its a good idea at all to try and have this restored - too much $$$ and will take years to complete.. And you're not likely to get the $$$ back out on a sale. If in the USA, you may also try and get it listed on the Bring a Trailer website , which auctions all manner of motor vehicles....

I hear you Peter. Your points are well taken. I think we are at a point where he wants to get it in someone's hands that can restore it to it's former glory since he knows he will not be able to. Thank you!!
