Hi, Currently started a ground up restoration project on the above car in the title, However i have come across an early strip down problem and thought maybe you guys would know how to help.
The problem I have is with the removal of the webasto roof. How do i remove it so i can have to complete car resprayed. do i need to take the complete head cloth down or just the rear of the head cloth?.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

it's either a MK-2, or a 'S', but not both. 3.8 refers to the engine size, (3.8 liters). Both the MK-2 and the 'S' came with 3.4 and 3.8 engines.
The 'S' (aka 'S type') is a redesigned MK-2, with improvements like independent rear suspension (as the E type), has two fuel tanks, twin exhaust system, thinner front and rear bumpers, elongated boot/trunk, and the rear wheel openings are similar to the E type. The 'S type' was made from 1963 to 1968.
if you post a picture, we can tell you what exact model you have.

Looks like the best advice is to contact Webasto, Alistair. Here are some dealers that may be near you and may help. I'd tell them I located them via the Webasto dealer locator.
Webasto Nachrüstprodukte beim Händler in Ihrer Nähe.

shouldn't be that difficult to remove, you have tracks on each side and "stops" at front and rear, they must be screwed in place from the interior, in fact I think you can remove it one piece. Just guessing though.
having said that, if the sunroof is working fine, just do a very careful and thorough masking job to paint the car and leave the Webasto alone. You know the old saying: "leave dirty dirty enough" ?
