420 questions
Hello all, I have a 1967 420 that I have been using as my daily driver for a few years now. I came across a donor car that I'm thinking about buying.
The donor car has no engine or transmission but does have the following:
-Rear end
-right hand drive steering assembly
-dash and instruments, don't know if they work
-good bumpers, grill, handles, and chrome all around.
The guy wants 700 for the whole car including delivering it to my driveway. My thought was I could remove the rear end and sell that alone to recoup my cost. I really don't need anything in particular from the car but one door and the gauges if they worked.
Should I buy it?
What could I realistically get for the rear end?
Here's a photo of mine, Not the donor. Her paint is shot.

Sounds like the car is a good deal, but if you don't really need anything from it, except swapping a door and gauges, why part it out? These beautiful cars are rare and getting rarer every day. Even though the engine is gone, it could still be put back on the road...so many cool options exist. They obviously aren't making anymore of these, and if it is a fairly rust-free California example (just guessing) then why destroy it forever? See if you can make your money back selling it intact. Since it is RH drive, you might have an interested party in England that doesn't want to deal with severe rust issues they have.

Unfortunately it is not rust free, but you are right. It would be a shame to discard the body.
Just to clarify, its a right hand drive 1968 Daimler Sovereign with a moon roof. Unfortunately when the moon roof rotted so did the insides of the car. There is not 1 usable piece of upholstery left.
