62 MK2, Front Suspension and Cross Member Color
So I removed the front suspension completely as a unit. It was so covered in undercoating and grime that When I power washed it all the paint came off. I think it may have been black. It’s at the powder coat shop now. Is the original color satin black?

Personally I would not go down the powder coat route. A good couple of coats of Tetrosyl TSH500 would be so much better. https://www.mymotorworld.com/tetrosy...hoC7YQQAvD_BwE
I have used powder coating in the past on my Lotus Seven suspension mounts and chassis. Exposed to the road and they were hammered by the elements. The actual tubes that were powder coated faired quite well although the coating faded from its semi gloss black after a time. The main problem you have with powder coating is when it comes back brand new all the holes for suspension mounts, bushes, nuts and bolts are all powder coated as well. All these areas have to be stripped of the coating to give you the original clearances to get the bushes in and when you thread a bolt in to a hole it tears the powder coating. Same when the aluminium body work was riveted to the chassis rails. What this does is leave a gap that the elements can get into. Water over time will creep in and under the coating which will then lift. Rust will form that you cannot see until the powder coating peels off. It is worse with aluminium parts as these Fur up under the coating and the powder coating eventually comes off in large chunks.
TSH500 is an undercoat that remains flexible and has anti rust chemicals in. I used the Tetrosyl stone chip on the underside of my car and in the wheel arches which then allowed me to paint the underside of the car and the wheel arches the same colour as the body of the car.
