K&N filters have good reputation... I used 3 K&Ns on XKE triple carb manifold.

https://mossmotors.com/222-955-chrom...-su-1-3-4-deep ...shop around, you may find a cheaper supplier.

Depends on who you ask! Years ago on the Jag lovers lists, one of the members was a professional mechanic and ran a small race team. He built a pair of identical engines for the season, and equipped one with a K&N filter and one with an OEM paper filter. Everything was measured and recorded in the build.

When the engines were torn down after racing, the one with the K&N had measurably more bore wear than the one with a paper filter and higher silica in oil analysis, indicating that the K&N's allow a lot more dirt into the engine than a paper filter. His conclusion was that K&N's only kept out "boulders".

K&N is a typical example of poor filters other than those made for them by Mann to Mercedes Spec in blown polyester in Germany.

With K&N it is generally pure marketing. Purple rubbish.

I was contrasting the pancake foam filters, verses the K&N .... other manufactures don't make filters for one off short filters for SUs with tight space requirements. I am in agreement, if you do weekend figure 8 racing on a dirt track, you might want the best filter available.

K&N do not make good air filters. I'm a Tribologist for a supermajor Oilco & we have tested them all.

The standard Jaguar OE filter is vastly superior or if you use quality filters like Mann.
