Alignment shops in Chicago area

alignment is alignment so if you think about it, any well trained aligner can do the job, especially if you take him the published specs for the car's alignment found in the factory shop manual. I don't know if any modern computerized algnment system will have the specs.
I had my XJ-6 aligned by a Firestone store and they did a fine job, and I purchased their Lifetime Alignment certificate. So no matter where I am in the US, I can get a free re-alignment.

There are some really ignorant, or uninformed mechanics out there though.
I heard a story of a guy not knowing how to adjust for tow in and out.
He didn't realize that the round pipe for this could simply be turned in one direction or the other, not knowing that one end had left hand threads.
He kept unthreading one end or the other trying to do it that way, starting each end, early or late, depending on which way it had to be adjusted.
He was there for a very long time pissing around with it !...
