Default Bolt on Wire Wheels

Where can I look to purchase a set of bolt on wires for my 340?
Thanks

Dayton wire wheels makes them for the XJ cars, but I don't know if they make them in the 5" width for the small saloons.

Why buy bolt on wire wheels when the conversion to original wire wheels is so easy and possibly as cheap?

The splined hubs for the front bolt on directly to where the five stud hubs goes. I am not sure of the set up on the rears of the 340 as I have an S type with IRS but with mine it was a simple case of buying a second hand set of rear hubs which I had refurbished with all new bearings and then they simply bolted to the car in place of the original five stud hubs. I am sure someone will be able to explain the change of five stud rear hubs to splined hubs but it can't be hard.
Personally I think bolt on wire wheels look awful and anyone with eyes can see that they are an imitation of wire wheels as the bolts are still very prominent.
No disrespect but if you are going to do something do it properly.

No offense taken You're right true wires do look better. I was exploring the difference in cost and trouble to convert.

Yes ~ I agree with Cass ~ bolt on wires look particularly odd & you need to watch your offsets. Some are hopelessly wrong for a Jag.

You could pick up the hubs and wires off a scrapped 240/340 for less than £1000. Referbishing the bearings would put you back £100. Time wise the fronts should take all of 15 minutes to change over. The rears a little longer but no more than an afternoons work. I think you would have to remove the hub to change it over. If you are lucky it will come off with a standard puller. If you are not lucky then you are looking at a bitch of a job on the rears with a real heavy duty puller. There are several threads on here about removing the rear hubs and they are not happy reading but as I said I am not sure what you need to do on the rears to swap them over having only done it on my S type.

I'd go further than Glyn and Cass. Use the centre lock hubs, but with Dunlop Racing wheels.

Dunlop centre lock wheels.

Used with a Tyre that was way out of balance or balancing cones incorrectly used:

I think originally that Oxendine was looking for a cheaper alternative to wire wheels. At £547.18 per wheel I think these would be outside of his budget. They certainly would be for me.

I have to say that when I changed my S type over from steel wheels the difference was really dramatic. It changed the car from what I saw as a dowdy old mans car with painted steel wheels in to a racy sports saloon with wire wheels. Just my opinion as I know that the S type above with the Dunlops is owned by our friend Nigel and he can't stand wire wheels hence the Dunlops.
