Broken Turn Signal

Broken Turn Signal
Hello, good afternoon, I am new to the forum.
My name is Agustin and I am Spanish
I have a 1966 S-type
I saw this topic and wanted to ask a question. I have a broken turn signal indicator. It is the type that has the plastic spring, not the circular type.
Does anyone know if this piece of plastic is sold loose? If so, you can provide me with a website or email.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Augustin and welcome to the forum. There are several of us on here who have S Types me included.
The part you are looking for I think is this part from SNG Barrett. https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#...ndicator%20%60 only £13.66
If this is not the part if you can photograph the broken part so we can see which bit it is we can help a little further.

Agustin, there is a seller in eBay who sells the spring, should be easy to find. I purchased one from him and resolved the problema. The kit includes additional parts that are not needed.
the seller's name is phosphorrgb. He sells Jaguar parts in Ebay Canada and USA.
the item number is 374752379465 .

Production started in SA of the S Type in January 1966. My car was No 4 off the CDA production line end of January & personally inspected by Lyons as being up to Jaguar Standards. Our bodies were always far better than Pressed Steel & built over bucks provided by Browns Lane. The only reason I call it a '65 is that it was somehow registered before it was built. Those sort of things happened here back in those days. It is something I've never resolved. Lyons got around the 53% by weight local content requirement in Phase 2 of the program by achieving by agreement with Govt. that he would send blank heads & blocks, crankshafts etc which were machined & assembled here on the latest state of the art equipment for the era paid for by the SA Taxpayer & not the old Standard & Daimler junk at Browns Lane. Our engines were thus superior in build standard.
All SA cars from day one were built with this Indicator/headlight flasher unit. As were Mk2's for a number of years before that. By XJ6 days we pressed the bodies here at Steelmobile.
No '66 car should be fitted with the old plastic spring. Jose's car is really a '64

Yes it's likely that Browns Lane worked off old stock of the poor mechanism. SA Built cars had the new mechanism from day one in January 1966. As I say above my car was No 4 built at CDA SA in January '66 and has the new mechanism and column.

obviously a revision of the plastic spring switch to the pot metal switch.
The plastic or vinyl "spring" switch was used in many Jaguar models and the part that wears is still available today, No big deal as one does not need to find a complete switch to replace the original.
I replaced the plastic piece in my switch and it works like new. I still think Lucas made excellent repairable parts all the way to the Series 3 XJ-6, as the turn signal, wiper, headlights, and ignition switches can be dismantled and repaired, if not slightly re-engineered to keep working.
what Jaguar or anybody never got around to surplus is part number C19704.

The new column without Felt Bushes & different drillings is a damn side better than the old one. BTW it's not Pot metal. It is Zinc alloy that takes machine screws properly. The white plastic insert becomes available from time to time when a new production run is done.
