ceased front calipers & ball joints; Damiler V8

So you have seized front calipers, and the ball joints are also seized, correct ?
No point in keeping the old ball joints, buy the Lemforder replacements that just bolt into place without adjustment, and last for ever. These were original fitted to the XJ6 of 1986 (XJ40 model), but are backwardly compatible to the Mark 1 saloon.
As for the calipers these are an early design and have separate wheel cylinders bolted onto the main caliper forging. It is possible to rebuild these cylinders but much depends on how bad they are. Refurbishment is done by boring out and inserting stainless steel liners. The design is totally unlike a modern caliper, the piston has a pad withdrawal mechanism built into it.
SNG Barratt have replacement parts or even complete, new, wheel cylinders. A stainless steel replacement is available, but expensive, as you'll need four of them. I believe there are more modern calipers available that bolt onto the existing mounting points on the hub carrier.

I can't emphasise enough that putting on the old 1954 design of lower ball joint on your Daimler is a complete waste of time and money. The new design lasts almost for ever and is a simple bolt-on job. However, if replacing the old type joint, you must knock out the bearing ring in the hub carrier. The ball butts up against this, but the new ball-joint is self contained and cannot be fitted properly until this ring is removed.
As for brakes, the after market is such that you can either fit the existing design, but improved, or fit a single piece caliper of modern design that bolts to the existing hub carriers.
