Daimler 250 oil in spark plug tubes

Morning all,
First post in this section.
Daimler V8 250 had spark plugs changed today, not rocket science.
5 of the 8 spark plug wells had oil in them, some quite a lot. Bear in mind it is 10 years since they have been touched, and the car is rarely used, but still not as it should be.
I note the parts book lists "O/ring seals" for the top large nuts on the cover at each spark plug tube, as well as the tubes themselves.
My question is:
This oil leak is from these o/rings, OR the tubes themselves??. Any heads up would be good.
Thanks in advance.

I rebuild my 2.5 litre V8 engine some years ago. I had/have a similar problem with oil leaks into the plug tubes. The general opinion at that time was that the washer under the tubes 430742 was the culprit. There was even a suggestion that there could have been an error in the diameter of the washers. I occasionally clean out the tubes with old rags pushed down alongside the plugs, then remove the plugs for a more complete clean.
