DG250 gear selector details
I would appreciate a photo of the gear selector details for a DG250 equipped MK2 LHD. It appears the parts book details a RHD version.
As my car was not fully assembled when I purchased it, I am uncertain if it had these parts. I have been unable to locate them. It may be that the parts book drawing differs from the LHD parts I require.
To clarify I am interested in the parts that attach to the gear selector "lever" which exits at the firewall, and the control cable. It appears to be a right angle "bellcrank" and a mounting bracket with associated hardware.
Thank you.

I will attempt to attach a photograph of the engine compartment of my MK2 during disassembly. You can see the along side the steering column where it exits the firewall is a lever protruding from the firewall. That is attached to the gear selector handle by means of a long shaft which runs the length of the steering column. This lever has parts attached to it which actuate the gear selection at the transmission. I would appreciate a photograph of the parts which attach to the lever. LHD cars only. Thank you.

I would be interested to see a photo of that lever on the inside of the car i.e. where it attaches to the selector handle.
I have a sneaking suspicion your car has been modified to suit a non-factory transmission. I cannot find any reference to that lever in parts catalogues which all refer to cable operated mechanisms for both RH & LHD cars. In all cases the bell crank lever assembly is mounted behind the dash and all that travels to the transmission selector lever & shaft is a cable fitted with an Amal (?) ball joint on the gearbox lever.

Following are the photos requested. I am certain it is original to the car. Keep in mind that the transmission selector lever is the same for both LHD and RHD cars. Because of this the RHD gear selector mechanism must have a "reverse" push pull configuration. Therefore they add a bell crank to the RHD cars. The parts book I have shows a slightly different design as it is a depiction of a RHD car. Furthermore my selector lever shown in the photo in my earlier e-mail is formed by bending the selector shaft while the parts book shows a lever attached to the shaft. To confuse things more. Early Mk2's used a hand selector on the left of the steering column and the selector shaft was short and was attached at the top portion of the steering column. This short design was also used on the last MK2 / 340 cars with the BW35. With the addition of a bracket (shared with the 420) which lowered the steering column to allow the high mounted lever clearance from the mounting pedestal. Confused?
