Hello everyone
I am looking to buy a Jaguar windshield wiper motor, new or renewed
For jaguar mk2 1961
I will thank you if you refer me to the store or the right person.
I live in Israel and of course I will also need delivery.
Thank you all
Gideon
I have three DR3 motors, (one is a 1-speed motor, the other two are 2-speed motors) in various states of disrepair. They all need to be rebuilt. In the USA we call them "Cores", good for exchange or to rebuild.
You can also get rebuilt DR3 motors from SNG BARRAT UK.
do you still have the cable from the motor to the wiper boxes?
Yes, I have the cable.
David Meners in England has a new right-hand motor at a good price
Could I turn it to the left? I think i just have to turn the plate over so it stops in the right place, am I right?
there is a Lucas rebuilder in Wilmington Delaware, USA, they have most everything Lucas electrical already rebuilt in their eBay store.
The owner's name is John and the eBay store is MAX 071492
I have purchased parts from them in the past, such as Brushes for XJ-6 sunroof motors. They also rebuild the old 5SJ and 2SJ washer pumps, DR3 wiper motors, etc.
I"m going to hijack this thread before I try starting a fresh one. The windshield wiper motor on the Mark 2 I'm rebuilding had the wires damaged and disconnected when I bought the car so I don't know which wire goes where. Plus, of course, most of the wires are cloth with no remaining color codes left on them so I'm clueless what each wire does. I measure some resistance between a couple of the wires going into the motor but nothing I try makes it run so I don't know if the motor is bad or I don't have it wired correctly. What I need is a description of what each wire does and, if possible, where each attaches inside once the cover is removed from the top of the motor. Anyone have this information?
If you want to preserve the paint on the scuttle below the screen, remove the wiper arms from the spindles before experimenting with the motor. Use matchsticks attached to the spindles with tape or bluetack for guidance as to where the system is wiping and parking.

Basically correct. I have rebuilt about a dozen of these wiper motors.
The main thing I want to add is that it is important to ensure that the body of the wiper is connected to the body of the car with an earth lead otherwise the park position will not work.
That is because the wiper motor is mounted in rubber standoff insulators and the park position requires an earth to function.

Ahh, perfect. You guys are great. This is exactly what I needed. Was not able to find it with an internet or forum search. Now to work to see if IT works!

Absolutely Bill. It comes up and attaches to one of the screws that hold the alloy top on. As always thanks for your wise advice.
Attach earth from Harness to this screw which terminates in an eye:

Looks like I have another question before I can put my wipers to bed, so to speak. Using your excellent link above, I was able to confirm that my wiper motor does work, cleaned it up, and installed it. BUT, the previous owner had removed the wiper switch and I have no idea which wires go to which connector on the switch. I've made a list of which contacts are connected to other contacts in Off, Low, and High, but can't seem to translate that into which wires should go onto which spade connector. Makes my brain smoke to try and figure it out. Can anyone tell me which colored wires go to which numbered connectors on the back of the two speed switch?
Mk2 Wiper switch connections. See RHS of diagram. 1 to 6 in dashed box. (excuse green lines being a little pale.) Dotted block are Lucas Bullet connectors usually in paired female connector blocks OE.

Your information is awesome, Glyn. Thank you. Perhaps I eventually WILL get this beast sorted out and on the road. I'm thankful for the knowledge in this forum.
To introduce myself and tell you what I'm up to: bought this '60 Mark 2 in rough but mostly solid condition last spring, though partially dismantled. Surprisingly solid because it spent a lot of it's life in the muggy southeastern US before being imported to California, where I live. Decided I didn't have the wherewithal to do a complete rotisserie bare body, I fudged but still stripped everything off the body. Since then, I've redone front and rear suspension with poly bushes, had the rear axle professionally redone with new clutches, rebuilt rear springs, new front springs, Fossway upgraded front and rear brakes and rotors, new Cunifer brake lines, electric rack and pinion steering and rebuilt steering shaft, tidied up the wiring, rebuilt the dash switches and gauges, and am now getting the screen wiper working. There's a fair amount of wiring issues to still be sorted, but that's what winters are for, eh? Ordered a complete new interior from BAS, which should arrive within the month - I had to close my eyes and not tell my wife how much that one cost! Stripped the outside of the body to bare metal, treated it, and it's now in gray epoxy primer with only a tiny bit more of body work to do. So, this project is well along and, with luck, I'll drive it next summer. But I've spent easily twice what I originally expected, although I'm the kind of person who loves classic cars but can't stay away from those modern upgrades, so it will certainly not be concours.
My previous projects include a Bricklin, a '50 Metropolitan, a couple of Jensen Healeys, where I got bit by the British bug and one of which I successfully raced, and a couple of Mercedes SLs. My current daily driver is my beloved '86 560SL and I expect to be in quite the quandary about whether to take the SL or a Mark 2 to town next summer. Terrible choice to have to make.
I'll put this thought in, to maybe save you waiting on replies. Have you found a printed shop manual for it, or perhaps a printable version of just the wiring diagram? There is a very nice one for the s type on the stype register site, but since I don't have one I am honestly not sure if the mk11 has a similar site. In any case you should be able to get it without too much trouble. Good luck with your project.

Good luck with the project! I'm also a daily Mercedes Benz driver & Classic Jag driver. See my signature.
