Ok Fraser, it's not difficult if you have £.1091 in your pocket, but I'm looking for a used steering box. maybe someone has updated the car with a power steering ...

Mauro, I think you'll find it difficult to find a LHD standard steering box, and if you do, it will inevitably need a rebuild. Reason I say this is because the last cars left the factory in 1969, 50 years ago. You may find one eventually, but it might be a long wait. . Yes, I agree, £1000 for the rebuild box is a lot of money, but is does have a new worm and nut and will also have new bearings and oil seals . Have you thought about installing a modern steering rack, it can't be hugely more than just replacing the existing box.

Edit
Found this on an ebay site. Its in the USA

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Jaguar-MK-II...-/271643340583

They recommend stripping down and replacing at least the oil seals and gaskets. .

Hi Fraser, thank you, I did a thorough research before posting my question here.
I also find the US box, I like to experiment and I'm trying to put an xj6 power steering.
It is difficult to position the pump.
however, I continue my research with someone who upgraded ...

Hi, i do not know where you live (I am Sweden) but I have a few second hand boxes from scrapped cars which are Lhd. Both mk2 and also early mk1 with different ratio. Never had a leak on any of my manual steering cars but have resealed a few XJ’s. I like the manual for their robustness and simplicity although they are heavy to steer when parking.
