I got a pile of documentation with the car even the original UK registration card. It has been completely restored twice. The last owner has spend almost €50K (excluding the purchase price which he didn't want to tell me) on it. It is an older restoration (2013) but he only drove 3000 miles since the restoration.
when you get a moment - your door lock handles are upside down 🙃
I thought it was strange pushing forward to open the door! Although strange can sometimes be the normal.
So in the front they point down and in the back up?
The car is with my Jag guy at the moment. When the engine was very warm (from the motorway) the idle would not return to normal levels. He tells me it is a bimetal strip in the carbs that ensures the revs drop slowly. Brakes were sticking a little too. He is going to changes all the “pistons” (not sure of the correct word) for stainless steel ones. He also says my clutch isn’t releasing completely. That could an expensive one but for now it’s OK.
AFAIK, the only way to close the door is to grab the door handle and pull slightly backward on it. it's the only thing to hold on to. and so, the engineers only had one choice when assigned the task of opening the door lock and that was to push the lever FORWARD. at least, that was my immediate thought after i bought the car and tried to open the door from the inside for the first time.

What you should grab to close the door of a Mk2 is one of the great mysteries. I tended to use the wood capping below the window. In fact, if everything is set right and the car's not on an adverse slope, they don't require much of a pull to close.
Fit Jaguar S Type door handles. Fitted properly they look excellent & work well. They have an excellent chromed insert for your fingers. This is a common fitment in SA in many configurations to your liking. You can put short end forward like Browns Lane did or long end forward as all SA built cars did. The angle is an easy change. Whoever designed the Mk2 handle should have been neutered at birth.
