If you remove the old wing carefully you might be able to sell it on to someone who is able to repair it.

That sounds like a good plan, i've never tried fitting a whole wing but i've been told by people that have that its not something they would want to repeat. You only have to look at how much lead Jaguar used on them originally around the grille and scuttle to see how much trouble they must have been.

Your really lucky to have a MK1 and a MK2, i've always fancied a MK1 but never found one at a price I could afford.

I’ve welded up the front of the right hand wing today, and started to remove the paint from same wing will add some pics tomorrow
seeing as I want to take it to the Le-Mans Classic next year I’m thinking of making an alloy fuel tank to go above the rear axle then I can do less fuel stops

I think that the beechams MK2's used an XJ6 tank in this location, you could configure it like the old S-Types with the twin tanks.

It's amazing that from your photos the front fender is in such poor condition, can't imagine anyone doing such a poor repair. Must have been a ton of bog (body filler) used to make it look half decent.

Welded the holes up will now dress them and straighten the panel up

Rear of front wing needed blasting ideally (yes yes you told me lol) you can see the lead filler work that was originally done

Filler work done by previous owner at some point on front

Calipers arrived today and they are huge! Came off a Citroen C2R2 Rally car just need to fabricate some mounting brackets and find a vented disc that fits! Any ideas? Only cost me £100 for the pair

Ill get a pic compared with the original callipers

Before I bought the mk1 the previous owner unfortunately had the rear axle stolen which was disc brake type, the current axle is drum

I’ve been searching the dreaded evilbay and hadn’t come across much at decent money until last night when a pair of front and rear axle assemblies at the right money came up so an offer was made and was accepted!

Bargain at £125 and only 40 mins away so will collect Sunday, this means I can refurbish these and still keep the mk1 rolling and get a disc rear axle back on, and make some brackets for some modern alloy calipers which will make it stop better (I hope lol) in line with more modern cars

Thats a really good fine, the MK2 jag rear axle is wider than the MK1 which helps with the handling, the only problem from what I understand is that it can cause a problem with the spats but if you arn't going to have them its meant to transform the handling.

If you also have the MK2 front subframe its worth looking at the differences as I have a feeling the suspension geometry was improved on the front of the Mk2 over the Mk1.

There is a bit about it here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/m...bility-170839/

I mentioned the wider rear track with pic in post 10 of this thread. The Mk1 rear track was troublingly narrow and adversely affected handling..

I don’t think the body is any narrower as the bumpers fit both cars, I was planning to just for some wide wires to the mk1 axle but the axle does sit much further in, I’ll also run Combe style arches of some sort so no drama with rubbing
for the money it’s not worth messing around so these can be blasted painted and I can make the correct brackets as I said for the brake calipers, Xjs discs have arrived and I’ve also found a XJR6 engine for reasonable money

If you are going for Coombs arches & don't want to fit a Mk2 axle I guess you could use some hubcentric spacers.

I’m going to got the mk2 axle as it saves work in the one run, I’ll fit the lsd and possibly xj6 rear calipers if not some nice alloy ones off something else
