MK2 Lamp Bulbs
Has anyone made a list of the number of lamp bulbs used on a MK2 by type and identification number?
If so would you be willing to share your list?
I am thinking Instruments, panel lights, warning lights, interior lights, license plate illumination, boot light, turn signals and brake lights and whatever else I am forgetting.
Thanks!
Lin

I will be curious of anyone has this data. I purchased the set for my 3.8s at XK's Unlimited that were all LED. The only issue to me was they seemed to be a bit delicate and not the best quality but they work well if you are careful NOT to twist them when you install them as that will damage them. They purposely do NOT list the numbers so you purchase their entire set as a kit.
I recommend to use LED bulbs and if you get the numbers most are available as LED. Also the headlights I would use the HID Xenon and the Jaguar's use the exact same as a Datsun 240Z which I got at Motorsport Auto

Most of us do not have the owner's manual, so if you or someone else has it, we would all love to know all of the bulb numbers so that we could then easily go to the many aftermarket LED suppliers and order the bulbs instead of paying a premium for a kit that we cannot control the quality of what manufacturer they decided to base it on....

I do not know about the UK but most likely they are referring to exterior off road LED driving lights which are used in place of off road spot beams, etc. and not interior LED lights which will give you nice day light K levels and last much longer which is great for interior especially on these Jag's where it is a pain to replace lights behind the wood, etc.

Since I am fortunate enough to have the original owner manual for my 1960 Mk2, I made a copy of the list for Lin. Since then, I have done some research on US modern equivalent. Here it is:

Thanks JPG!
FYI, As I mentioned for anyone thinking of new headlights the Jaguar 3.8S which I think is the same as the MK II uses the same headlights as the Datsun 240Z. There are a couple of HID headlight upgrades for the 240Z which I used one from Motorsport Auto which provides superior driving lighting plus it draws less amps to reduce load on the fragile Lucas wiring.

Thanks JP for putting together the chart with modern equivalent numbers.
I am attaching an image of the bulb chart from my manual for a 64 MK2. It is virtually the same as your 1960 chart. [I will have to add it later. For some reason the manage attachments function is not working at the moment]
So we now have the Lucas part number for each bulb, and modern alternatives. I am also after identifying the number of bulbs required by type. Once we have something definitive I will be happy to supply a table with the information. I will start looking at my parts and see what I can do. If anyone has already completed the inventory please chime in.
This is a Lucas catalog pdf from 2008. If you go to page 4.1 You will see specifications and drawings of most of the bulbs we use. You have to dig a little bit as their modern inventory of parts is also listed.

Have the numbers for the interior lamps been confirmed? When I buy the US version of the double ended tubular lamps they end up being too long for my lampholders.

MK2 Lamp Bulbs
All:
I have prepared the following DRAFT spread sheet to illustrate bulb information. JP provided the alternative bulb numbering and I have incorporated it. I thought the images would also be helpful. I have used the Lucas numbers. The manual indicates that the pillar interior light is a 989 but the fixture in my car require a festoon bulb, so I listed it as a 254. The page from my manual did not include a reference for the Cubby Glove Box so I have added it. It is a festoon bulb like the other interior lights.
i find it puzzling that the bulbs were often 6 watts, but currently are available as five watts. Anyone know why?
I did not include the fog ranger lights nor headlights since those do not appear to be a source of confusion.
I have an electrical schematic that includes a choke warning light, but if my car has it I don't know where it is. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
Before I call this a final document I would like to get your feedback regarding accuracy. Looks like a total of 36 bulbs excluding the headlamps and fog/driving lights. I hope this is helpful. I guess the next step is to add LED equivalents.

Steve,
This should fit:
254 CAR CLASSIC SV8 5s 12v 5W festoon bulb 11 x 38mm
I don't have a U.S. source though I am sure there must be one or at least an alternative that fits and works.

Thanks for the response, and thanks for your support of this Forum. Yes, not only do I have your catalog, I have spent quite a lot on restoration parts with you. I will also continue to order the bulk of the remaining parts I will need from SNG Barratt; however this thread was motivated by a desire to identify the type of bulbs used and the number required. Your catalog doesn't provide that information.
Thanks,
Lin

Besides stock bulbs do you sell LED versions of those bulbs on an individual basis?
