MKII chrome windscreen query

Even if they haven't been used and are in question, I would get new ones.
What I've found with these rubber renew products is that they are a temporary fix and if the rubber is in question, it will just oxidize again no matter what you do.
Just my experience with rubber and rubber renew products.
Know too it's not the cost of the seals, it's the labour to install the screen.
If the screens are in place, then by all means leave them there if they don't leak.
As far as softening the rubber.
I use "Simple Green" to remove the surface oxidization and lots of water to rinse and then use Maguire's natural shine tire product to bring it back _ don't be afraid to work it in.
