Is this level before or after the engine has been run following the oil change.
The oil filter holds a lot of oil and if you have just put the oil in without an engine run the dipstick will be high over the full mark
Don't get too excited over a slight excess on the dipstick.
Question. Are you sure you have a correct dipstick?
I will measure my MK1 2.4 for dimensions and let you know

On top of "do you have the correct dipstick" & the other good things Bill mentions. Does your engine have a dipstick tube.

Early cars had no dipstick tube and this needs to be taken into account with the Mk1.

I am not sure I have the right dipstick.
I wait your the measure of yours.
the measure I did is well after the oil replacement and engine run. The level is about 8 cm from the bottom
thanks

I have just done the measurements on my dipstick which is original in my 2.4 car with an original engine number and build date around September 1957. By body number it is approximately 45th. car after the wide grill was introduced
I will refer to your dipstick photo for measurements
Overall your dipstick lengths are correct however the full and empty marks are incorrect. Your dipstick shows these marks at approximately 182 mm and 195 mm
My dipstick which has a cross hachured area shows full at 168 mm and low at 185 mm on your dipstick photo
I recently did an oil change with the correct quantities and my oil is pretty well level with the full mark.
If you can't find a correct dipstick I suggest you modify yours to reflect my markings. I would use a Dremel with a diamond cutter point to put on new markings
If you can't do it your self, any competent engraver could incorporate lines with "full" and "low"
Cheers

Georges
As an after thought I just checked my MK2 2.4 dipstick and the measurements are exactly the same as for my MK1.
In addition the MK2 dipstick is clearly marked on the end with 2.4L.
That satisfies me that you have an incorrect dipstick possibly from some later motor with a dipstick tube.
Neither of my 2.4s has a dipstick tube.
cheers
