Rack and Pinion Steering problems

I've done some more back of the envelope trigonometry. This time for the Ackerman angles of a rack and pinion system that would fit in a Mk2. As I'm not at home, I've had to guess a lot of dimensions. However, it doesn't look difficult to design a conventional rack and pinion system that has correct Ackerman (39 deg turn on inside wheel with 30 deg on the outside wheel). It may well need modified or custom made steering arms, but that shouldn't be a major obstacle. I'd say the hardest part might be obtaining precise measurements from the existing hardware (such as the position of the king pin axis).

No problem at all David. That's what we are here for. With sensible driving & no trying to turn against kerbs I'm sure you will have no issues. Just being aware is all that really matters. Electric motors provide instant peak torque. Guess that's why EZ fitted adjustable load sensing.
