Default Relay/fuse panel location for MK2

I am planning a circuit board with approximate dimensions of 5" x 10" to house relays and additional fuses. The left hand engine bay valance is getting a little crowded as I am adding a hydraulic pump/reservoir for the electric power assist for the rack and pinion, and then there is the brake fluid reservoir, and the windshield washer bottle, plus an air conditioner compressor that will mount very close to the valance wall. All leaving little room for my expanded circuit panel.

I would love to put it somewhere under the dash, but I just don't see where. I could put it in the boot next to the battery I have moved back there, but there is also not much room to pull all the wires to the front.

So...... anyone have any creative ideas for a new location for the panel? Thanks for your creative responses.

My relays are behind the chevy engine and my breakers are mounted in the driver side console facia.
Mine is modified and I feel your pain.

I made a custom mount where the passenger area at the firewall for a modern fuse set up like what you are talking about. We also used that area for custom pair of 6" JL Audio subs. It is carpeted in Porsche carpets that enable the sound to go thru yet no speakers are visible. Thus there are places in that area if you look and you can make a wood piece to hide it as I did to hide the subs yet with metal mesh under the carpet you can safely not worry about heels damaging whatever is below.

Primaz,
Thanks, but now you knew this was coming - have any photos of the installation?

Lin,

sorry I did not take pics of the install but here is it finished. Basically think of how you are ok with mounting it on the firewall base on the passenger side and then making a removable false floor piece that is carpeted. What is hidden on my car in this photo are two 6" long throw JL audio subwoofers in a custom enclosure with the fuse box above the box and a separate kick panel box on the right with Focal two way separates yet nobody can see any of the speakers in the front nor in the rear deck
