Question about rear seat width...
Well, my car is a 1963 Jaguar 3.8s and while I am not 6'4" tall, my mechanic is and has no issues but we upgraded the seats to a complete set from an early 2000's Jaguar Vanden Plas fully electric seats with headrests and picnic trays. Thus you could modify the car and install later model Jaguar seats and have more clearance and comfort.
A beautiful looking interior! May I ask, did you need to do any modification to the width of the rear seat to fit into your classic S-Type? From the look of the seats, to me they look like they came out of an X300/308 and I thought maybe they would be wider than the aft section of the "S"? Any information appreciated, when you have a moment.

If you plan on driving your S-type or MKII these seats really make it a comfortable ride as the stock seats will give you a back ache and no support for your upper back or head.

Drove to Coventry a couple of years ago on stock seats. 500 round trip and it felt like sitting on a sofa. Yes no neck restraints but how many people drive with the head actually touching the restraint. Use the car as a wedding car and get many compliments on how comfortable the original rear seats are to sit in. I have fitted new foams all round and the old foams were really falling to pieces. Most had turned to dust so new foams after 50 plus years is a recommendation.

At your height it is even more important! For me I do drive 150 miles to 350 miles per day 5 days a week and the occasional 500 mile weekend getaways and you drive more than a day and your back, neck, and shoulders will feel it if you do NOT have support on your head, shoulder, and complete back. Couple that with currently 400 HP roughly and you can seriously get neck cramps or worse without support. The modern Jaguar seats also are fully electric so you can have much more adjustments than stock, the rear seats have pull down center arm rest, and the nicer more luxurious rear passenger picnic trays in beautiful wood are an extra plus!
