Retro-fit XJ6 Front seats into a '67 MK II ?
I want to put XJ6 front seats in my MK 2 to have the seat backs manually adjustable and have head rests. I have been told that they fit in the space availiable. Are the seat rails the same in both cars? How difficult is it to install them? Does anyone have a better suggestion for really comfortable, safe, and adjustable seats that would give me what I need? Thanks!

I've heard it requires modifications to the floor bolt "towers" and even cutting the front beam.
I would measure the bolt towers center-to-center (side to side width and front to rear length), and then go hunting in salvage yards for seats with the same measurements.
you might try measuring front seats from XJ-40 or even the S type from 1999-on, which are narrower than the Series 1, 2, and 3 XJ-6 seats.

on my 3.8s Jag I used the Vaden Plas leather electric seats and it did require the floor support to be notched. Those seats have the electric controls on the seat so no dealing with mounting controls. Do not be scared about cutting or welding as the car will not be weakened at all and you can just sub contract this work to many auto places or metal shops so if it is not your skill just pay someone to do it. You will love the feeling of modern seats and it is much safer with head and full back support.
