Lesson learned the hard way on fitting a spare tire. I had a spare wheel sitting around but since it looked like it had been used as a boat anchor I had it sand blasted and powder coated. Went to a local tire place and got a tire that matched what I had put on the car. Bad move. As you can see from the photo the 185s are much wider so that the mounting bolt will not reach to mount the tire in the holder and the cover will not fit down over it. I did have an ancient spare that came with the cars in 165 width, and fortunately it was still pliable enough to remove from one wheel and mount on the newly painted rim. So it worked out nicely.
CS what 185 did you buy. We have seen the problem before with wider tires but not 185. Normally if the tire is too thick to use the hold down the lid will also not fit. Interesting.
And not tall enough, they're meant for a Volkswagen Beatle.
I was running a set if these and it just looks to small, the car sat too low to the ground.
