Can anyone tell me what this does..just got the car 1964

I'm thinking its the radio aerial winder. On Mark 2s these were mounted at the back of the wing.

winder for the radio antenna. If you don't want it I will buy it.

I think they're a rare beasty, I'm sure Jose will take it of your hands for cheap.

Yup. Have not seen one of those for a while. They used to break ~ the segmented antenna. The winding mechanism was reasonably reliable. Most went for the roof mount option.

I have the cable but not the winder. At some point it was replaced with a power antenna.

Hi all..I checked the winder and yes, I think it is for the aerial, although the winder, winds, the aerial does not move...I will need to take it off and give it a good clean and oil..it looks in good condition, but the car has not been used for many years....nice to know what it does though...

Gently pull the segments of the aerial out after giving them a good soaking with WD40 or similar until loose. Don't be shy with the WD40 as you start to extend the thing (Presume it's collapsed/retracted at present). Do not bend the aerial in any way. These old guys snap off more easily than you might think.

Hi Glyn....many thanks...The aerial is half way extended..I have used WD40, ...I'm thinking there is corosion on the cables,so I will dismantle, clean and oil, will be nice to get it working again....the car was last taxed, used ? in 2002
