Default Wipers

Drove in some serious rain just now and noticed that my wipers are still RHD. My car has been converted to LHD but the wipers have been not been converted. This means the passenger has a lovely clear screen (they actually work quite well) but the drivers side is only half clear. Any simple way to convert them?

They do park on the correct side.

When you say they park on the correct side which side do you mean?
My RHD car has the wipers parked on the right side. The right side wiper then arcs across the drivers side until just past vertical whilst the left side wiper arcs from basically the centre of the screen to vertical in front of the (Left side) passenger view. If yours are parked to the right then they are still set for RHD.
Bill Mac I think has rebuilt many of the wiper motors and if they can be adjusted he should be able to tell you how,

Wipers parked on the correct side
But the drivers wiper only wipes from the vertical position toward the passenger. The left had side of the screen is left unwiped (except when it comes from its parked position). Hope this makes it clear.

So this is not a problem with the arc of the wiper blade but the fact the wiper blade does not contact the screen on the up stroke. The Jaguar wiper blades are not very good and are the same blades you would find on any British car from the 1960s. The design means that as you go faster the wind picks the blade up off the glass and they do not clear the glass with any great effect. There was a clip on to the wipers that you could buy which I have as a period piece on my S Type. It is basically a plastic wind blade that clips on to the arm of the wiper. The wind blade then forces the wiper on to the screen giving much better water clearance power. You can see the wind blade in this photo. Don't think you can buy them anymore as these came in a job lot of spares I bought many years ago.

Black plastic wind blades fitted on the wiper arms.

You might also find that if the wiper blades are old the spring in the wiper arm does weaken and it is the spring which forces the wiper blade onto the screen. A change of the whole wiper arm section with new blades might help.

It’s not a contact issue. I should make a video, it’s so hard to explain in words. When I switch on the wipers they come out of park and go to a near vertical position. They then wipe down (clockwise) to near the bottom of the screen and then return to the near vertical position before repeating. This wipes the passenger side beautifully but only half wipes the drivers side.

You get left hand parking arms & RH parking arms. The arms have a bend in them. They are not straight.

Glyn if you look at the picture on post #3 it does look like they are the correct wiper arms for a LHD when you compare them to mine in post #4.

Then they need to be reset on the splines.

The Netherlands is LHD unless something is really screwed up here. I don't see the problem. They are parked correctly.

None of this gels with this statement.

"Drove in some serious rain just now and noticed that my wipers are still RHD. My car has been converted to LHD but the wipers have been not been converted. This means the passenger has a lovely clear screen (they actually work quite well) but the drivers side is only half clear. Any simple way to convert them?

They do park on the correct side."

I'll bet the motor is still set up for RHD & the splines set for LHD or they would not park where they do but on the windscreen surround. We are not talking a huge difference in arms.

I agree with Glyn. My guess is that someone has attempted to convert the motor drive from RHD to LHD and not made a good job of it. If you go inside the drive and do some experiments with the mechanism, be sure to take the arms and blades off first.
