Default Jaguar RSR at LeMans

The Rocketsports Jaguar RSR is running into a bit of a bad patch. Qualified next to last. Apparently the Euro press is slagging them pretty bad. Oh well, the race is 24 hours.

Well it was raining yesterday and somewhat foggy.

Today, somewhat foggy and raining a little.

I had hoped to have a run over there, but no can do this WE.

I wonder if 'Grommet' is going?

well, if its raining, they better put some silicone on their throttle body connector. The RP message sure will kill those lap times. All kidding aside, I am pulling for them.

Local Le Mans weather today Saturday:- Grey, cloudy with a risk of a drop of rain, becoming clearer towards the evening. Clear over night. min/max 15 - 23

Sunday:- Early morning mists, becoming clearer, with some sunshine through the afternoon. min/max 13 - 23

(quick conversion, double the temp and add 30)

or when I go outside, it's not great for mid June, and too wet to cut the grass. My usual shorts and sandals have become jeans and sandals;-(

It looks like the most-used piece of equipment the team will be using is a big-screen TV. The car doesn't look like it left the pits.

Electrical problems = misfire, should have PM'd BRUTAL!!

At least they did turn a wheel, which is good.

0h37m The #81 Jaguar team are reporting an electrical problem causing a misfire.

0h36m Unsurprisingly, it's a troubled start for the #81 Jaguar, which is undergoing work in the pitlane.

0h36m The #81 Jaguar XKR5 is in the pits. Reports indicate that Mansell had just passed that car when he suffered the puncture.

>>>>>

1h51m It looks as though the Jaguar team have given up on getting the XKR back in the race. The marque's Le Mans return might have only lasted four laps.

From Paddock Talk:

2010 Le Mans 24: JaguarRSR Race Recap - Engine Management Issues End Race

"Le Mans marked Jaguar's return to motorsport. This was the much anticipated fourth race for the RSR team. We would like to thank the ACO and have been delighted with the support we have had from the public and the media.

During this week's development period we faced constant engine management issues that unfortunately we were unable to resolve satisfactorily which forced us to retire from the race in the early stages.

We look forward to the remainder of the ALMS season and the next race in Salt Lake City. "

14 mos. development
Five laps
Clueless.

Clueless indeed. They've been running Jaguars for a number of years so I don't know what their problem is now. Collective amnesia?

Hi Richard, have the French declared Monday as a day of mourning? The Peugeouts started out fast and then they all flamed out.

That was a huge drama as well . I think that race was even more drama for Peugeots than what happened to Porsche team in '97 Le Mans .
Audi guys did a perfect job and beat Porsche's sweeping podium records by extending this record to 4 times .
This is very true that the best car wins the Le Mans not the fastest because it's an endurance and reliability test and a real deal for such tests

He Mike, not exactly, but due to the fickle nature of support, they quickly noticed that Romain Dumas is French.

My local rag headlined with this:-

No real need for a translation the highlights are self explanitary.

Richard,

I'm kind of surprised I didn't see "merde alors" somewhere in the article.
