08 XJ8 - thoughts on reliability?
New member here, I bought a 2001 S-Type with the 4.0 a few years back and the motor blew a couple months later....Im considering buying an 08 XJ with just over 40k miles on it....how reliable are they? Im looking to use it as a daily driver, but Im hesitant after wasting $6,000 on the last Jag.....but I cant seem to shake that Jag bug. Thoughts?

Welcome to teh Forums.
Those early 4ltr V8's had issues, and well documented. Some here are topping 300K, and all sweet, BUT, the fixes were all done early on.
I am biased, but ALL Jags are reliable, fact.
The opposite is always due to a lack of care by previous people. and, sadly, that is NOT limited to Jaguar. The badge means zero to a dont care owner.
I see NO issues at that mileage, but it is 11+ years old, and if the service records are NOT 100% spot on, walk away.
Good luck

Hello, Andrew,
We read that in here quite a lot, that once bitten by the Jag Bug people seem unable to shake it. That's because only the most discerning of the populace truly appreciate knowing which car in the parking lot is theirs without the need to memorize the plate number.

Welcome to the forums Andrew,
Any used Jaguar is a gamble. You have to make sure the odds are in your favour. Regular maintentance is critical so there needs to be a fat file of invoices to prove any claimed spending.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Enjoy the forums.
