06 jaguar s type new owner
Hello all, I'm Gigi I live in Delaware. I'm a nail tech for over 20 yrs. I have a 12 yr old son. I do most of my mechanical work. I earned my degree from"you tube University" lol... So with that I bought this car and it's check engine light came on. Codes p0171 and P0174... Which it says O2 sensors. Hmmm.. Can they be cleaned? I wanted to come to this forum with experienced people whom worked with/on and or own a jag. So when I start working on"black beauty" I would like my son to help out and start learning about cars... Yes, I named her black beauty...lol
Also, does anyone know of good places to buy used parts for jaguars. My closest you pull it yard had no jaguars!
I'm looking for driver side sun visor in beige. Thank you all for reading my first post. I hope to be here for a long time and learn allot from great people! Thanks and have a great memorial day weekend!

Welcome to the forums Gigi,
Good to have you with us.
I can see you've already found your way to the S-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Hello, Gigi,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
It's good you want your son to learn something about cars. He may not like the idea at first, but he might feel he's found his life's calling. A little exposure certainly won't hurt him, and he won't learn any younger.

From one S-type owner to another... Welcome. The S-type forum is populated with a very friendly group and contains a wealth of knowledge.
In terms of interior parts and fittings, I have done pretty well on eBay; Sun visors tend to be pricey as they contain illuminated mirrors and the factory price for the new part, if available, tends to be staggering.

I thought you may have posted about P0171 and P0174 in S-Type forum but haven't seen one yet.
Don't jump to the conclusion it can ONLY be faulty H2OS sensors. Here's the relevant extract from the Jaguar DTC lookup table for these codes:
An air leak is more often the cause than a sensor fault so worth eliminating the zero cost option first.

Welcome to Jaguar Forums Gigi,
Good to have you with us.
It's more likely an air leak than oxygen sensors.
Enjoy the forum.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
