1989 XJ (XJ40) Sovereign 3.6 - First time Jaguar owner

Hi all,
I’m new on the forum. So I’ll introduce myself and my car briefly. I’m a life-long Jaguar/Rolls-Royce enthusiast. During my childhood my father owned a wide range of Citroëns (DS, GS, CX ...), but those disappeared over time. During the last years my father is entirely focused on Jaguar (XJs of various generations and XK). Although he still has one gorgeous Citroën DS ;-)
Last year finally my personal dream came true: I bought a 1989 Jaguar XJ (XJ40) Sovereign 3.6 from my father. After some small niggles were sorted it drives fantastic.
I immediately had the interior completely detailed by a professional. And the results were astonishing, what a pleasure to just sit in the car and enjoy the British luxury!
Fast forward to last weekend when I had the outside done by the same guy. Some scratches and swirls needed to be removed and the paint in general was a bit dull in places. The car (body, rims, glass, chrome parts) were also covered with a quartz coating topped with a hydrophobic layer which repels water. And the results are again impressive. My father told me the car looks new ;-)
I’ve written an article on the detailing job (including a lot of pictures) on my car blog (David’s Car Blog), which is dedicated to classic cars. There you can also find a lot more articles on Jaguars. Here is the direct link to the article: David’s Car Blog.

All the best,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. That's a superb looking XJ40.
Follow Norri's link in post #2 to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forums.
