Default 1990 soverign, more gremlins than the movie!

Greetings all,
newbie here from nm. i bought my first jag a year ago and had my choice of the 90 xj-6 or a 96 camaro same status each, and same money. (300 each). i picked the jag to help my friend out in hard times cause it appeared to be the easier of the two to work on should a problem arise...needless to say that was an error in judgement as has been repeatedly illustrated in the last year! despite the numerous parts failure cascades and difficulty in finding parts, i absolutely love this car. i have a few tech questions that i will address later but after spending several hours reading the forums prior to registering decided to avoid the keyboard lashing for not posting here first!

Welcome to the Forum rigmover, you should find some great help over in the XJ6 and XJ40 sections.

Thanks for taking the trouble to introduce yourself, much appreciated.

My 1990 Sovereign was exactly the same. As soon as I mended one thing, something else broke. So far, the 2 I have now are much better.

Welcome rigmover,
Another '90 Sovereign owner here, still working on the gremlins. Some pretty smart people on here can help, plus link to documentation. I also purchased a couple manuals. It also helps to put your vehicle in your sig line when you get around asking questions.

Thanks for the advice. i keep thinking that as soon as i fix this, it will all be done. then two more things break! iv got one working door handle and when it breaks i think im screwed! i find it hard to buy parts for a car that cost less than the price of any two parts combined tho. so i find myself waiting to buy parts till its absolutely necessary.

I can understand that. Probably time to start leaving a window open, although the door handles are easy to replace and you will find threads about this in the XJ40 section.
