Smile 1995 xj6-x300 Sovereign

Hello owner of the above vehicle and am located in Perth Western Australia I am having a problem with my memory seat everything works fine and I have run diagnostics on all the seat movements via the memory switch light. This is also fine. the problem is the seat will move all the way back when the key is removed from the ignition but will not return when the key is reinserted or the memory button is pushed. Any Ideas?

Misbehaving memory seats are fairly common on these cars. I know mine is mostly functional but it does have a glitch......I can't remember what, exactly, as I never use the system.

Anyhow.....

Most commonly faulty potentiometers are to blame. If you search 'seat potentiometer' I think you'll get some good info, including postings of Jaguar bulletins which explain diagnosis and repair. Quite a bit of labor involved.

Others will chime in.

Cheers

Welcome! Try the key reset sequence as below. Sitting in the car with your remote in hand...
1. use the seat control buttons to get everything where you want it.
2. press the memory button so the red light illuminates.
3. press and hold the unlock button on your remote.
4. press memory position 1.
5. release all buttons.

The red light should go out and the message center may say memory position 1 saved.

With your Entry/Exit Mode, it it only the Seat movement affected and the Steering Column Tilt-away function is working correctly?

Yes all the other function work including side mirrors and both tilt and zoom functions on the steering colum, since I have run the diagnostics the seat returns some of the way but only intermittantly.

That's looking like the issue is with the under seat harness / switches which is going to be easier to fix than the whole Entry/Exit Mode failing.

Best to start a thread in X300 tech section summarising what you've done and eliminated so far. Other members with the same model who have had a similar issue will be able to give relevant advice and hopefully a solution.
