1997 Jaguar XK8 issue
Hi all,
So I believe I have a broken exhaust valve (cylinder 1 area). Given this confident assumption, I took the cam cover off. Now staring at the cams, I’d like to take both cam off so I can check the exhaust valves below. However, the cams seem to be locked in place (even after I removed the cam caps). I fear that in order to remove the cams, I need to move the timing chains, which, in order to get access to those, I have to remove the housing in front of the timing chains, which to get access to that I need remove the the water pump, fans, etc. Am I correct in assuming that in order to remove the camshafts, I must disassemble all the other aforementioned parts first?
This is driving me crazy! I love it. Any input would be helpful - thank you all!

Welcome to the forums Keith,
I've only once had a broken exhaust valve (on an XJ6) and the immediate cacophony was sufficient to leave me in absolutely no doubt.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
