1998 XJ8 Water Pump
Hi,
I'm looking for help with a 1998 XJ8 Water Pump. I have coolant leaking from the bottom front of the engine. It looks like its coming from behind the timing cover and I have already replaced the thermostat housing with the nifty aluminum job.
My assumption at this point is that it is the water pump. I have not found any DIY threads for replacing the pump on this or any other forum. Can any of you guys point me to anything? Is this a tough job? Seems that almost anything I do on this car has a gotcha or requires a special tool. If I dive in are the steps going to be obvious? Any reason I might regret doing this blind?
Thanks for any help

I am doing a water pump on my XKR this weekend. Found the parts at the local O'riellys. Nice surprise - and they do a lowest price match for web too...
I think it is fairly straight forward to do. Only issue on some cars is getting to some of the bolts.. You may want to poke around with a flashlight to see if you can spot them.

Thanks for the welcome to the forum. I'll try to make sure I do this in the right place next time.
Turns out the water pump was easy and cheap. Two things I'm not used to since I started playing with this car. Anyway, once the coolant is drained and hoses are out of the way, it's 5 bolts and its out. I did notice that the aftermarket pump, which I was able to get at my local parts store for much less money, had a paper gasket instead of the metal one the original had. Not sure if that was part of the redesign or just cost savings. Either way, it works great.
Thanks again.
