Question 1st '04 Jag XType 3.0 AWD

Hi Everyone,
Just bought a 04 Jag XType 3.0 AWD (black/black). It's not running and got 2 diagnostics from a local mechanic and a Jag dealer. Both said faulty fuel pump is the cause. I have been researching on how to change the pump prior the purchase. Just wanted to say hi and looking forward to get on this project when the weather gets warmer and the snow will stop here in Pennsylvania. I will try to document the project as much as I can for everyone.

Here it is:

1. 02/23/2014 - changed the fuel filter ($10); still didn't start. Old fuel filter was installed with the arrow point back to gas tank? The tip was bended also.

Wish me luck!

Thank you...

2. 3/2/2014 - Tried to siphen to the gas by using a 1/2" & 1/4" tubes but couldn't reach the gas tank...another obstacle! I was able to back the car up a set of rams w/ the help of neighbors. Also, found a pump from a junk yard for cheap (will pick it up this Sat).

I recall one member reporting an issue with the anti-siphon device in the fuel filler pipe becoming dislodged and making subsequent fill ups a slow nightmare so be careful.

Jaguar don't make it easy!

3. 3/8/14 - 3/9/14

*** Got a gas tank ('07 Jag) w/ everything w/ it from a junk yard (waited 3 hrs for it!)
*** Got the drive shaft & muffler to drop (lots of WD40/Blaster & elbow grease); cutted off the bracket holding the muff b/c I could not get the nut to turn (even tried the torch).
*** Dropped the gas tank w/ about 11 gallons of gas still in it (w/ the help of a few jackstands) - had to cut the "fuel filler neck hose" b/c the clamps on it totally rusted out.
*** Ordered the "fuel filler hose"; will try to put everything back next week!

I want to say thanks again (got a few tricks & tips from this forum).

I'll not be picking any fights with anyone who you can handle a tank with 11 gallons in it!

Sounds like you've got everything together now. Good luck with the rebuild.

4. 3/15 & 3/16 - managed to put everything back as is but still no power to gas pump. Ordered a fuel pump module to swap out just in case.
***Notice someone (mechanics) has messing around w/ the module and didn't bolt it back in. Can't wait until the module arrive. I think this is problem!
