2001 xj8
Hi,
I am the happy (?) owner of a nice 2001 XJ8 (0.1 % CO on French M.O.T) that has a 175.000 Km on the clock and an annoying rattle in the front suspension.
Color is Safir blue but the bumper is some kind of metallic green since a friend's 15 yo kid destroyed the original bumper by driving a lawn mower into it. My girlfriend likes the green bumper.
I am German, with Belgian nationality and live in the South-West of France.
Being now 65 years young, I have worked most of my life overseas and I am now retired. My lovely companion's name is Anne-Marie. She is Flemish.
Many, many years ago my dad bought me a nightmare called a 3.8 litre XK 150 for my 18th birthday. Second-hand, of course. That is also how and when i got familiar with the doings of the Prince of Darkness, Sir Joseph Lucas. About six years later the vehicle was stolen and became someone else's problem. I also had learned how to re-spoke wire wheels.
Now, in France, the sun shines, in afternoons I take my soft and silent ride to the village square.
Under shadowy trees, Jean, Marcel and Maurice play their jeu de boules. I go sit on an old iron chair on the café terrace and call the waiter: André, un p'tit jaune s'il te plaît.
La vie est belle, n'est-ce pas?

Welcome to the forum Takeo,
And why would you not be happy in such idyllic circumstances. A two-tone XJ8 is a small price to pay pour la belle vie.
Should any issues with the XJ8 disrupt your relaxed progress to the village square, the XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section will be able to offer help and advice. If André can pour two glasses, it would take little persuasion for me to turn up with my toolkit and lend a hand.

Thank you !
Hi !
Thank you all very much for the hearty welcome you all gave me.
Oh, btw, my ride is one of those that have the funny gearbox that is not meant to have the oil changed and requires a $$$$$$ gearbox overhaul after some 100.000 miles.
If any of you have a problem with that gearbox, I have found a very simple, fast and quite inexpensive DIY solution.
Takeo.
