Default 2003 SType Fuel Pump

Hi I'm new here and since I've read some useful tips for my jag here I would like to make a small contribution to this forum.I own a 2003 SType 3.0 l Jag 50.000 miles(right!) and I always had hard time finding parts,at least at resonable cost.I needed a fuel pump and the cost was prohibitive($650 to $900) just for the pump, adding $500-$800 for labor (in Chicago) and I was almost over the car value .But I got lucky.A friend and a good garage mechanic had installed a Spectra SP2080M fuel pump on his nephew S Type ,same year,so I purchased this pump at Amazon for $138.00 (this pump has an internal fuel strainer AND BETTER SPECS THAN THE ORIGINAL)My friend installed the pump, reused the lock ring and one of the two long plastic "pipe" for the Spectra being too short. No problem.Job done, car runs great, better than I ever remember, even the engine sounds more agrressive. He took him about two hours to do it and he only charged me $150.00.I could have done the work myself, but was safer this way .Hope this help somebody out there. These pumps go bad when they start burning fuse F47 15a.

Welcome.

The answer will be in the S Type Tech section, as Paul has said.

Blowing the fuse is Always a warning the fuel pump is about to take a hike.

Trouble is, just as you found, most people don't have the resources to hire it done nor the knowledge to do it themselves. That's where this place comes in; members are SO willing to help others! Those who don't understand about cars frequently have a handy friend who does. Good for your friend to help you out like that!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
