Default 2003 Vanden Plas Failsafe Mode - completely dead.

Hey guys - New here - longtime lurker, this has been a very helpful site for me....

THANK YOU!.

I've gone through the forums many times looking for an answer for my 2003 Vanden Plas which has gone into Failsafe Mode (at least I think you call this Failsafe Mode - but it does not run at all).... been this way for two weeks.

Does not start. No crank. Will not go into gear. Nothing. Put key in ignition, step on brake, computer readout states "SYSTEM CHECK" this ends and cycles through the following messages; "DRIVERS DOOR OPEN" - "ACS NOT AVAILABLE" - "TRANSMISSION FAULT" - "ELECTRICAL FAULT" - "SUSPENSION FAULT" - "FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE" - INCORRECT PART FITTED" - then back to "DRIVERS DOOR OPEN" and cycles through all messages again and again.

I've read problems with the Brake Switch that can trigger Failsafe Mode, and have taken mine out, cleaned it with electrical cleaner, and still in this Mode.

Disconnected Battery and waited - still in in this mode.

This car has run good and solid, none of the above messages prior, always serviced regularly, etc.... but I did have my 22 your old daughter driving when she got a flat tire, once I fixed the flat (Nail in Tire), car was in THIS FAILSAFE MODE - has been since. I asked if she noticed anything before hand, she says no - but then again, 22YO girl - who knows for sure? - no obvious damage anywhere.... again, two weeks now.

Had to tow to my house - because it would not go into gear, they had to 'drag' it onto the tow bed, and 'drop' it on my front curb.

Let me know our ideas.

Thanks again

Welcome to the forum Jeffhas,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I was going to move this to the appropriate model tech forum. 2003 was a model changeover year from the steel bodied X308 to the aluminium bodied X350 so it could be either .......
