2003 XKR Owner and Lover
Recent-ish acquisition of one of my favorite modern cars ever made, sleek E-Type looks... what’s not to love?
Just joining lookin for tips, tricks, advice and other things Jag.
She’s still a baby with 16,000 mi but still needs upkeep and I’ve been having slight issues with some things, most trivial and nothing major.
A little backstory on it here... My dad bought it new in 2003, the dealer said it was the show car at the New York auto show and it was supposedly a rare/custom color for the show. Its a racing green with a slight bluish pearlescence. The best way I can describe it is forest green pearl with a tinge of lighter blue where the light is lower.
I gave him a decent chunk of change toward a newer low mile Aston DB9 but I still prefer the XKR so he’s happy, and I’m happy.
The Jag has a few upgrades starting with the engine are upper and lower supercharger pulleys, a cone filter with some sort of MAF tweaking (IMO not doing much good), a Mina cat-back exhaust and various ECU chips. It’s feels like it makes about 400+ WHP or so and feels about as fast as my previous 2006 Pontiac GTO with Cams and full exhaust.
My Dad swears by the mechanic who did the work but I feel he’s not doing the car justice and hasn’t fixed things that shouldn’t be rocket surgery. It’s somewhat frustrating because he doesn’t talk to me when I have concerns. I have a suspicion it’s because I’m competent with cars and mechanicals where my father is not, he loves cars but knows close to nothing about them.
I suppose I’ll go into detail in other threads.
Glad to take part on the forums! Obligatory photo of course
All the best,
Strat Dude
