Default 2004 (54 plate) X-Type diagnostic fault codes recently found

Hi, I have just joined the forum and am keen to get to the bottom of a problem I have with my X-Type, anyone's help would be much appreciated.

My chariot has recently decided to pose me with the following problems:

1. No Speedo
2. No mileage displayed (running or overall)
3. Handbrake light on permanently.
4. ABS and Traction Control lights on permanently along with the engine management light.

I also experience a shuddering when at around 2000rpms, not sure if this is related. Anyway I took the car to my mechanic and he plugged it in to the diagnostic and it displayed the following codes:

1. P0500
2. P1637
3. P1000
4. U1039

He told me that it could be a number of things I.e the ABS module or simply a small wire that has snapped or lost continuity. He then told me that my best option was to join a forum, so here I am with my problem!

It's a pleasure to be here and I look forward to a hasty response if possible

Kind regards

Hello,
You'll find Loads of help in our Very Active X-type section. Someone there, or probably several someones, will be able to help you out with all these codes. Someone will be along soon to direct you there.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

LnrB,

Thanks for your speedy Californian response. Would that be the X-Type (x400) forum? If so I have already posted my issue there and awaiting a response.

Yes, Smudge, that's the section I meant. As you know, this is an international forum; sometimes the members who know best are sleeping when the rest of us post questions. And after they read the codes, they probably have to look up each one because no one wants to give a wrong answer.

Be patient, someone will answer.

Welcome to the forum Smudge78,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. It's the correct place to post tech questions abot your model.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Jim, I've had my abs module replaced, all the lights mentioned are still on! Can they be deleted or do they need reprogramming?

Not many members come back to the Intro forum to re-read posts once they've read and/or replied to them.

I put a reply to your thread in X-Type forum.
