Hi. I just recently purchased a 2004 Jaguar XJR and its got 160xxx miles on it and everything seemed great on it. Engine was really smooth and so is the transmission. (Was overhauled less than 10xxx miles ago) yesterday on my way home the cel light turned on so I took it to autozone and it thew codes p0442 evapporative emission leak detected (small leak) which said it could be the gas cap or the gas filler tube. But I'm not worried about that. We did a second scan on it and it popped up with P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected. So I'm not sure on where to start. Autozone recommended spark plugs and coil pack replacement. Was gonna do that but was wondering if anyone has had similar issues and what they did to fix it. I also think my air intake gasket going to my supercharger has a leak. Gonna check when I get home but just wanted to hear others opinions on what it might be or if you have been there. Just got the car less than a week ago. It had a full inspection before I got it. Thanks
Before spending on spark plugs and coil(s), the recommended troubleshooting technique is swapping the coil to a different positioin and see if the fault code also moves. If it does, you have a faulty coil; if it doesn't, it's one of the other possible causes.
