Hello Jag Folks:
I am brand new to this forum and this is my first post. I hope you guys/gals can help me.
OK, so I screwed up. My battery was dead from non-use in my mint, mint, mint XJ8. I tried to jump it with my other car and accidentally attached the jumpers to the opposite poles on the Jag battery. My other car shut down and the Jag battery was still dead. The Jag battery would not hold a charge so I replaced it and when I went to start the car, it cranked and cranked, but wouldn't catch. It made me think it wasn't getting gas. The car always started right up upon turning the key.
All of the other electrical systems seem to be working normally (lights, radio, AC.) I checked fuse F33, 20 amp, and it was intact.
Any ideas on what the problem is? Could I have screwed up the fuel pump or relays? I don't know where to go from here aside from having the tow truck come and take the car to the dealership for a service that has me cringing on what it might cost.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and please try not to kick my rear too hard to punish me for my stupidity.
Keep 'em on the Road!

Hi Folks:
Brandy new member here who lives in Weston, Florida, just off Alligator Alley and west of Ft. Lauderdale.
I have a 2004 XJ8 with 48,041 miles that is concourse clean...no, really! I have had it since 2005 and purchased it from Texas Cars Direct. Supposedly it was a factory rep's car. It has only been hand washed and waxed by me and always garaged. The car is cleaner that a newly delivered car.
I screwed up yesterday and crossed connected my jumper cables to jump start a dead battery from non use. Now the car won't start, even though I put in a new Bosch battery. Please see the help forum for a detailed question/description and please don't kick me in the read too hard for my blunder. I was tired, it was hot, the lighting was bad...I'm sorry :0(

Welcome to the forums Ron,
It's turning over so one of the three essentials for starting is ticked off. Next check for spark at the plugs and fuel at the rail. With all the drama, you could have just flooded it. I hope so because fried electronics could get very expensive.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also use the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region.
Good luck and enjoy the forums.
Graham

Welcome to the Forums.
One of my S types had a flat battery "moment" a few years ago (I did not try and jump it, learnt that lesson waaaay back), removed the battery, charged it, refitted it. Crank only???, so I simply locked the car, then unlocked it, and all sweet, maybe????
Good luck.
