Hi folks, Phil from Dorset UK here. I've owned the XK8, my first Jaguar, for about a year now and am just about getting to grips with its complicated but interesting design. It had only done 25k miles when I got it (33k now) but a few bits were starting to fall off - but nothing major.
One of the jobs I had to do was to repair the door lock micro-switches ( to restore sensible operation of the windows) and it may be of interest that I found a source of switches that accept the original (rare) lever arm and are a drop-in replacement.
The last couple of days I posted a query about what seems to me to be excessive end float in the rear axles but maybe it's normal. I'll wait to see what you say.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
