Default 2005 XKR in the DC area!!

Hey all!

I've been lurking since 2005. I own a 1997 XJR and just purchased a 2005 XKR. This is my first convertible and I love it. Don't worry, I know there are some vert haters here I purchased the XKR from florida and had it shipped here. So far I've had a couple of issues that I may need assistance with. My rear lights don't work. I think it could be the SLCM issue identified and fixed by jacksheen. My alignment seems off even after a recent alignment. The steering wheel rattles as well. I'm thinking I should take the car to a suspension expert. I got the car for a steal so I wouldnt be surprised if it was in an accident regardless of what Carfax says. The engine and transmission do seem to be functioning fine. I've fixed most issues with the XJR by myself so hopefully the XKR will even easier with the JF team!

Thanks in advance to all,

Tim

Hi Tim and welcome. I would recommend inspecting the inner wheel rims for dents. Also get a Hunter Roadforce Balance for around a $100 before you do major suspension work.

Thanks guys!

WhiteXKR - I've been stalking you for awhile! I plan on doing the GPS upgrade and would love your assistance. The remote top is something I would want as well.

BriteRed - Good catch! My last name is Green by the way!

I would be happy to help. I am also doing installations on the remote top for no charge to locals (at least for now) if you would rather not do it yourself.

PM me if you want to set a time.

WhiteXKR - Where do I go to do the Hunter Balance? I've paid $180 for an alignment right after I purchased the Pilots.

BriteRed01XKR - I'm well versed in keyboard illiteracy (I text with my teenage cousins)

Norri - Thanks!

Almost forgot! I was getting gas last night with the XKR and what rolls up? A 2011 XKR!! Did you know that car has 510 horsepower?? I felt a little disturbed because his son kept asking me what kinda car do I have. I answered the same one as your dad; he said really?

The car is still a beauty.....

Curry's Auto Repair - Curry's Auto Service of Northern Virginia & Maryland is an excellent shop. Call to double check they have the Hunter equipment at the location you go to (I had mine done at the Falls Church location).

Default Curry's Auto

WhiteXKR - That's funny I brought my car to them for the first alignment. I live 2 minutes from the Gainesville location. I will have to check on the Hunter Alignment. They are a great shop!

Just to be clear, it is the Hunter Roadforce Balancing, not wheel alignment.
