Unhappy 2009 jaguar xf cylinder misfire/cackle at over 4500 rpm

Hello All

Can anyone give some advice---- Was washing my 2009 Jaguar XF 3 litre engine when i decided to use a cloth and wash down the engine after i drove it that day i got restricted performance on the dash. water got down in where the spark plugs where so we changed ignition coils spark plugs dried it out and still we getting the same result car is fine when started and driving at a normal pace but once gas pedal is depressed and it is under load it starts to cackle and gets sluggish and does not pick up if this is done too much we get back the restricted performance message. car once reset will drive fine until you try to rev it pass 4000 or 4500 rpm then the problem shows itself again. anyone can help?

Hello,
There's a good reason not to clean an engine with water. All sorts of bad things can happen, you've only just found one.

Doubtless someone in the XF section can help you, someone will be along shortly to direct you there.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum davpryce,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

As you have discovered - water and Jaguar electronics aren't a good combination. It's worth having a code reader on the vehicle to determine if any fault codes were set as a result of you cleaning exuberance. This will help troubleshoot the poor running.

Follow this link XF and XFR ( X250 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XF/XFR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Other Areas Region forum by following this link Other Areas - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in the Caribbean.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome.

Now you know the myth is true, Big Cats dont like Water.

Clearing the stored codes "should" sort it, as Graham has said.
