Default 3rd Jaguar in 4 1/2 decades.

Just purchased a 2006 XKR. Love it, but my '69E FHC was a lot more fun to drive. Had a '73 XJ in the late 70's early 80's. Don't miss that one at all. Would love to know how I can identify how many 2006 XKR's were built. Can I assume that the 2005 numbers include those designated as 2006's? How can I tell what number of the total production run is mine.?

Welcome to the forum carlsR,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The last Jaguar XK8 (an XKR Coupe in Frost Blue) rolled off the production line at Jaguar's Browns Lane factory on Friday 27 May 2005. Numbered VIN A48684, it is on display at JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust). USA imports are dated from the date of import which is why you get 2006 XK8/XKR's there.

Jaguar built 4005 XK8/XKR of all types in 2005 (XKR = 669 Coupe/985 Convertible). In the USA 2282 were sold in 2005 and 1148 in 2006 (again, of all types - XK8/XKR Coupe and Convertible).

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Carl,

YES, you are.

You've made an excellent choice with one of the last built XKR's. A great car with the design faults of the earlier models rectified.

Be sure to check threads about transmission fluid changes. Although not included in the Jaguar Service Schedules, it's very important on this model to avoid expensive issues.

Graham
