Hi I'm a 74 yr.old enthusiast .I have restored exotic cars all my life and am now retired in Savannah Ga. I recently purchased my 7th Jag.xj6 as my last Horrah in life. It is a 1989 and I am converting my hydraulic booster to vacuum and need to know what is the best used booster to use. Thanks

Welcome to the forum 838 dutch,

Good to have you with us.
You'll want to ask the experts in the tech sections 1989 could either be an XJ40 XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum or a series 3 XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to the forum 838dutch,

Follow Norri's link to the XJ6 section for help and advice. After six previous Jags, this is likely to be a two way information flow from the start.

Hope you get the booster resolved easily and can then enjoy driving the XJ6.

Graham

Hello. My name is Paul and I live in Savannah Ga.I am 74 and have restored many cars ,domestic and foreign in my time, but I keep coming back to my passion for Jag's. I 've had tr's,one 4 & one 6. A 1967 Healey Mk. 3/ 3000. A 58 and 59 XK 150, a 69 and 70 XKE conv. A71 V12 XKE 2x2.A 1971 and now a 1989 XJ6 that I purchased one yr. ago from Miami Fl. and am babying it back to new. It is by far the prettiest car I have ever owned. Now I am looking forward to meeting your members and sharing my experiences with them and please don't let my years impress you, your never to old to learn, and that is why I signed up.

Great introduction, welcome aboard this friendly forum where you'll get all the help you need.
The forum is well populated with Old F*rts of which I'm proud to be one.
Of course we know much more than the young whipper snappers of 50 or so, it's just our backs don't bend so well.
Edit - Graham's posted just before me - don't worry about losing the thread err where was I??

Default Power Brake Booster

Paul
good to see in your thread you are interested in doing the vacuum boost changeover. I did it in three weekends total time. Longest part of the conversion was making the pedal box adapter plate. My situ was just do-it. for fun. Glad to see you are giving up on the Hydraulic Booster (you emailed me on EBAY to buy my booster if you are the same 838Dutch). I can give you all the info needed and some helpful hints if you want them.
I had my son's Jag booster x-rayed and THEN taken it apart. the process Was really simple. Good Luck

will send all pic's and doc's. I have the screws , I also have the clip for the brake pedal bracket. yours will possibly break when you take it off. I have lots of helpful learned lessons to pass on. send me your PM to clifton.bowie@navy.mil so i can send pics and an instruction sheet to you.
