85 xj6
This is my first immersion into the Jaguar mystique....acquring it from a friend a couple of months ago. The seats are weathered and lacked care over the 20+ years but mechanically the car is in great condition.
Then I picked up an 88 XJ6 for a song wanting the wire wheels it had to be swapped onto my 85. I learned about wire wheels quickly and sold the 88 XJ6 to a Jaguar groupie.....
The original wheels on this 85 XJ6 are chipped in some places and I would like to replace them.....any suggestions, or offer of wheels in good condition would be appreciated.
I live in Savannah,Ga. if anyone out there has wheels, seats or anything else you should think I need to buy to maintain status among all of you.:icon_goofygri n:

Welcome!!
The 1984 to 1987 XJ6 were some of the best years for the Series III. I would rather have the KENT or OGLE PEPPERPOT wheels than the Dayton Wires. The Wires go out of true and seem to leak alot. Difficult to keep in balance. The 15" XJ-S wheels will also fit your car.
Good Luck

Here in the UK we all wanted the "pepperpots". I had steel wheels on my 1980, and could never afford to buy them - petrol costs were so much on a 4.2 I could never save the pennies ! Sold that car in 2002 and only recently returned to Jaguar with a 2003 XJ6, the ally-bodied car, and of course they all have alloy wheels now, as did my last two cars; steel wheels seem to have gone out the window, apart from wires. BTW Jaguar always frowned on wire wheels on the big saloons claiming the car stressed them too much with the modern wide tyres and so on.
