Default 93 XJS gas gauge reads 3/4 full

My '93 XJS 4.0 Liter Convertible's gas gauge reads 3/4 full most of the time. I just replaced the gas gauge sending unit in the tank. The only change I've noticed is that the gas gauge now will go to the full position upon fill-up then go down until it hits 3/4 and again stops there. I'm planning to install a new gas gauge. Forum folks...Is there an old bulletin out there that may address this 3/4 full malady?

Welcome.

That fiasco you have is the reverse of most of the gas gauge issues, and I have no answer for it.

As Graham has directed, the XJS section will know.

Hi Jim, and welcome.
I have a 1993 XJ-S too, but a coupe,
and the fuel guage on that just seems to have a mind of its own !
I just ignore it and fill the tank every 200 miles or so. I've known a few with similar problems. Good luck.

Thank you to all the welcomes. I'll follow Grah suggestion and pursue the links he offered up. In the mean time I have ordered a replacement gas gauge from Terry's Jaguar in Kalamazoo, MI. I'll keep watching the forum for any other suggestions. I'll report back when the problem is solved.

Regards Jim V.
